CONDITION: Following A/C compressor installation (with magnetic clutch R&R), compressor is noisy and cooling performance is poor.
CAUSE: It’s possible that the snap ring used to secure the stator and rotor was improperly installed.
CORRECTION: Snap rings with a beveled edge must be installed with the beveled edge facing away from the compressor. The snap ring must be fully seated and retain the stator and rotor securely.
